While Brenden and I were at DMACC this past semester, we had a wonderful opportunity to meet Katie. Katie went to Valley High School and was in our US History class. We began to form a friendship with her, but only at school. She even joined us in my car for our daily sack lunches, prepared so lovingly and faithfully by my mom. As the school year ended, and summer began, I was committed to keep in touch with her. Not only to maintain a friendship, but also because I had loaned her my Rich Dad Poor Dad book. The summer went on and we talked a few times on the phone but that was the extent of it.
About two weeks ago, however, I recieved a phone call from Katie. She was very dissapointed because after being accepted to Metro State, in Minneapolis, over a month before, they called her and informed her they made a mistake. My first reaction was, "come to North Central." She knew I was going there, so she already had sent in her transcripts and TRIED to fill out the application, but couldn't. When she told me she didn't know how to answer the questions, I knew immediately which questions they were. I told her to call me later and I would walk her through the application. Let's skip forward a bit...
"I don't know when I recieved Christ, because I haven't. So you can really know for sure where you're going when you die?" You see, Katie grew up Catholic and these questions about her salvation were 100% foreign to her. Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist Christian to figure out that God had opened a door for me. We talked for over an hour before she accepted Jesus Christ into her life. Wow, I was on cloud nine! Isn't the Lord awesome?
It gets better. This picture was taken of us at Chipotle in downtown Minneapolis. We were both there together on our New Admitted Student Day at North Central. If you just put two and two together, it is simple, she is going to be attending NCU this fall. Here is a young lady who just happened to be in my US History class at DMACC and now, by the power of God, has been saved and is going to a Holy Spirit filled university. Maybe that is why God had me leave ORU and come back home.

Jonathan, even though I know the story, that last sentence brought tears to my eyes. Katie is very blessed to have you in her life. I will continue to pray for her. There is no greater joy in life then leading someone to the Lord. That God would allow us to partner with Him, still amazes me. Keep up the awesome work!!!LL
Too cool!
Jonathan, your mom & Grammy Clay are friends of mine. I just wanted to tell you that I was blessed & encouraged by your post about Katie. So many times we don't understand what God has in mind for our lives but it's so reassuring to be able to trust him. Things don't always go as we had planned but He uses us in the neatest ways if we are open to His leading. What an awesome testimony!

Jonathan, I love that story! Your dad told it to Uncle Bill last week in Springfield, Uncle Bill told it to me and I have read it again. What an awesome testimony of God's faithfulness. The seed that was planted in high school in Katie's life is blossoming. I believe God has great things in store for you in the days ahead. We love you and are proud of you! Uncle Bill & Aunt Marilynn
