Tour de J-Town

It seemed like such a steller idea at 8:30. Lang, Furrow, and I decided to venture out on our bikes to Van Dees Monday night. Being a warm, calm evening as it was we thought it would be awesome. We took off from my house and rode down the new sidewalk on 62nd Ave. Now skip ahead a few minutes to across the street from Van Dees and waiting for the traffic to settle so we could cross. I was looking looking and finally no cars coming from our left. I took off on my bike and the other two followed but what I had failed to do was look the other way. Car were flying down Merle Hay and we were stuck in turning lane. We couldn't go back because by that time the other way was not cleared up anymore. So if you can picture me on Bethany's little pink bike, Lang decked out in all Jimmy Binnie's Dayton gear, and Furrow carrying his bike on his shoulder, all in the middle of the turining lane of Merle Hay watching our lives pass before our very eyes. Of course, we made it alive and somehow I treated all 3 of us to ice cream. Not 30 seconds after we got our orders, the wind began to pick up and the temperature seemed to drop 15 degrees...easy. After discussing our options we felt as though the only feasable option was to stop at the MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS track meet at the high school. Our hope was that we could snag a ride from someone we knew and then bring Lang's truck back to pick up the bikes. It turned out that when we got there the first person I see is Gabrielle and she offered to have her mom take us home but that required us to stay for the rest of the meet. Couldn't do that so we had to prepare to ignore the high winds, abnormally cold temperature, burning of the quads, and finish the journey we started some 45 minutes earlier. However, Julia Binnie was just about to anchor the 8th grade 4x400 meter relay and so we stayed for that race. It was a pretty good race, Julia recieved the baton about 40 meters behind and almost came back to win. After that it was a struggle back to 5596 Hardwicke Ct.
