Roll out the red carpet, crack open the piggy banks, call up your in-laws, alert the national guard, save water and oatmeal, and whatever you do, don't relax. For the time has come...black raspberry is the flavor of the week at Vandees. For many of you it may not mean much, but for some, like my dad, it would be top 5 moments of the year. He actually observes it similar to a national holiday. I have very little room to talk about this as a matter of fact. Carol, the manager, e-mails me the black raspberry date and I am there the day she drops the flavoring into the machine. The Palmer's savor the flavor in every bite of our treat. This flavor only makes its appearance once a year and you only have 7 days to beat the heat and get the family over to Vandees for a little taste of heaven. Without taking this a little too far or "over the edge," going to Vandees during black raspberry week, could be the same as taking your family to Maui for a week. But don't take my word for it...

I was laughing the whole time I was reading your blog. Have you ever thought of going into the advertising business? Carol needs to put you on her payroll or give you free black rasberry cones for the week or better yet, for life!!
However, the gals who work there, one being my daughter, may hold you personally responsible when they are running around in a frenzy trying to serve everyone. I know I'm definately heading to VanDees for a BRC! Lori
The question is, how many black rasberry icecreams have the palmers purchased at VanDees during this very special week? The number may be scary!
Jonathan, you're right, this is a 2 comment blog (for me at least). Ken called and I told him we had to go to VanDees and try the brc. I told him it comes highly recommended (and smoothly promoted) by the one and only connoisseur of ice cream, Jonathan C. Palmer. Then I proceeded to read your blog to him and he too got a good laugh out of it. We're both just a little skeptical about comparing it with Maui, but who knows.....we'll get back to you on that one! Lori
YUM!!! BRC is a little taste of heaven. I enjoyed every bite, however, it just can't top a day at the beach in Hawaii. Have you ever tasted Haage-Dazs "chocolate chocolate chip"? Now that's paradise!
OK, this is going to be a 4 comment blog. I forgot to mention the part about you creating a "frenzy" at VanDees. Well, I was right, you DEFINATELY created a frenzy there last night Jonathan-and you know what I'm talking about. I'm just sorry I missed all the fun!ha
