Yesterday, to say the least, was quite a day. We left our living quarters around ten in the morning. I don't know how many of you remember my dad's infamous commercial, with me draining the half court shot...well in that commercial my dad makes the statement, "it's better to aim for the sky and miss, than shoot for the ground and hit." Well yesterday we shot for the sky, but HIT!
Our goal was just to go a nice a little day trip to New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. Little did we know what we were in for. We began driving north through Mass. and into New Hampshire. After an hour or so we had to make our decision about whether or not we wanted to do a train ride through the White Mountains of Northern New Hampshire. It was unanimous...the train ride will give us spectacular views and unforgettable memories. We didn't even care that it was about a four hour drive to this AAA approved "Hobo Train Ride." By the way we did stop over into Maine for lunch.
Now I could blog about that car ride all the up to the mountains, but you wouldn't want to read it and sure don't want to have to think about it after I already lived it. Let me just get to the meat and potatoes. The train ride was the worst thing ever! It was an 80 minute ride with trees and streams on one side, and the interstate we drove to get there on the other side. It drove 4o minutes one way, stopped, and went in reverse the exact same way we came. The good thing was dad got a few calls made, my mom and I took a long nap, and Bethany snapped some pictures of the all the not fun things going on INSIDE the train. Wow...great memories.
After recovering from that event, it was 5:00 and time to go to Vermont. Basically the rest of trip is in the car, except the little General Store where this picture was taken of me, in the town of Bath, Vermont. Vermont has some very spectacular Green Mountains we drove through. But what I would like to say is that from the train ride, it took us about five hours to get home and we were so dog tired. Luckily, today is starting at 11:00, which is most defenitely a treat.
Lesson learned from this blog...don't go to New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont all in one day. And please DO take our word for it!
