A little background of why I am writing this random blog...
I am playing for North Central's golf team this year. We are Division 3 but not very good at all. This is actually our first year not being a club team but a varsity sport. We had our last meet today and it was the worst round of golf ever. Not only did I have a terrible score, 104, but had a terrible time shooting that poorly.
During our 5 hour round, I came up with 3 reasons why I dispise playing competitive golf.
1.) No carts. After watching John Daly walk 18 holes, I tell myself, "who couldn't walk 18 if he can." Well, was I ever mistaken. During my high school summers, I was fortunate to ride in carts for almost all my rounds. Mostly because I would either use entertainment book coupons, which required a cart with my purchase, or played with my dad who would pay for a cart. So for me to walk my college meets, was the worst thing ever. The first 3 holes aren't be too bad, but the last 15 are brutally painful. My feet become raw and a "burning" sensation takes over my legs. I end with this...I would not want to get in a fight with the legs of Tiger Wood's caddy, because they must be the strongest two objects in the world.
2.) Pace of play. When I am watching Tiger or Phil play on Sundays in one of the PGA Major Tournaments, I can live with the fact that they read each putt for several minutes. What I can't deal with is when a guy in my foursome today takes 2-3 minutes to prepare for every shot and a good 5 minutes for every putt. I am talking about Division 3, no-name conference, #3 golfer on the team, winner gets nothing, name doesn't even make the school newspaper (because the school is too small to have a paper), not the NCAA Divison Championships or the US Open with a $2 million purse. Unbelievable.
3.) Zero fun sir. As a play golf regularly throughout the summers, I have fun. Whether I am playing with Peter, Coach Danner, my dad, Evan, or Amy and Jeremy, I am enjoying myself immensly. We joke a little bit, fluff our ball up a little bit, take advantage of our first hole mulligans, accept gimmies, ride in style in our CARTS, and enjoy a great past time...non-competitive golf. When I play college golf, I feel like I am playing by myself. The 3 other competitors are 100% unresponsive. They are all business, no pleasure. Don't tell them your name, just tell them your score. If I am going to play golf, whether I play good or bad, I want to have fun. Playing competitve golf would not make my top 1300 things to do, my next blog may be all 1300 things I would rather do.

that's awesome. So I take it you may not go out for NCU's golf team next year??! Ha!
Thats hilarious!
If you had been working out you would have been able to throw your hands through.
Your abs got in the way.
I hope you go out next year. There has to be something positive come out of it.
I love it Jonathan and I whole heartedly agree with you. If it's not fun it's not worth doing. Life is too short!
Did you get my letter yet?
Gram
Hey JP - we're going out to look at northface and marmot gear tonight at some outdoors stores....do you have any ideas of what you want yet? no hurry, just wondering cuz we could take a look and get a general idea of prices and stuff. Have a good weekend, I miss you!
with the name "Palmer" it seems only natural you'd play next year.
